Panchvati is the home to 80 families living in precarious economic conditions and is classified as one of the poorest areas in the country. The village is located on the outskirt of Riviere Du Rempart.The project aims at providing a number of cows of various age to families based on a merit system with the idea is to empower them to generate an income through a cow breeding and milking programme. This will also build knowledge on animal farming that can be passed onto the next generation and other families in the community. Any new born calves will be donated to the next family with the aim of increasing the livestock and income generation in the village. The Rotary Club of Grand Baie and its partners not only finance this project but also provide the support and technical expertise to farmers to ensure the success of the project.
